Practical improvements to SIMPR codes for stiff ODEs

Extrapolation of a semi-implicit midpoint rule (SIMPR) is an effective way to solve stiff initial value problems for a system of ordinary differential equations (ODEs). Two issues peculiar to SIMPR are investigated. It is shown how to improve subtantially the robustness and efficiency of SIMPR codes.
