On boundary value problems in differential-algebraic equations

For linear and nonlinear boundary value problems in DAE's, solvability is investigated. In particular, it is shown that only transferable DAE's lead to well-posed boundary value problems in their natural setting. For those problems, appropriate modifications of well-known “ODE-methods” are proposed. Further, some regularizations of non-transferable DAE's which are closely related to singular perturbations, are discussed.
