摘要

This article presents an economic model that can be optimized to obtain the sample size, the intersample interval, and the upper control limit that minimize the cost of operating a multivariate control chart (MCC). Goel's algorithm has been extensively modified and applied to obtain numerical solutions. A study of the effects of correlation on the efficiences of the MCC shows that, for two variable characteristics, its economic and efficiency increase as the value of correlation coefficients varies from 1 to -1. Furthermore, the article demonstrates that the MCC is economically more efficient than the X̄-chart.
