Numerical Techniques for a Class of Singular Perturbation Problems

Two numerical techniques for solving a class of linear singularly perturbed two point boundary value problems with a boundary layer on the left end of the underlying interval are presented. These are distinguished by the following fact: The original second order differential equation is replaced by an approximate first order differential equation with a small deviating argument, and then solved efficiently by employing finite differences to obtain the three term recurrence relationship. The proposed techniques are iterative on the deviating argument. Some numerical experiments have been included to demonstrate the applicability of these techniques.
