Half-wave linear rectification of a frequency modulated sinusoid

This paper describes a method for calculating the effect of half-wave linear rectification on a frequency-modulated (FM) sinusoid and on a quasi-FM sinusoid. Results are compared with the effect of half-wave linear rectification on an amplitude-modulated (AM) sinusoid. The main finding is that the effect of rectification is to produce different power spectra, not only in the FM and AM case, but also in the quasi-FM and AM cases, even though the power spectra of quasi-FM and AM are identical before rectification.
