Numerical methods for magnetized plasma equations with boundary singularity

This paper presents a solution of two-dimensional coupled magnetized plasma equations. A general method for singular systems of ordinary differential equations is included in a shooting method for solving the plasma equations on the field line. The plasma equations are coupled by introducing the perpendicular charged particle diffusion and perpendicular energy leakage in the equations of Guan et al. [1]. Charged particle leakage across magnetic field lines is considered in detail, while energy leakage is given by a simple model, with the electron temperature taken constant along each line. To solve the equations near the stationary point (ion velocity equal to zero), a method to avoid indeterminate right-hand sides was introduced. The boundary points which are singular are reached by the singular solver described above.
