摘要

A nonlinear dynamical model of urban and regional economic growth in labor and capital stock is presented which draws from the literature of mathematical ecology. By stating the problem of urban and regional development in a Volterra-Lotka type system of differential equations, points of bifurcating behavior in urban and regional structure are obtained. It is suggested that the recent abrupt phenomena of change in regional and urban population accumulations in the U.S. could be captured by such model formulation.
