摘要

In this paper, a compartmental model for the human immunodeficiency virus (HIV) infection among female sex workers and senior male clients is formulated. The qualitative analyses are carried out in terms of the basic reproduction number R0. The global analytical results are then obtained by employing novel techniques and methods: the disease-free equilibrium is of global asymptotic stability when a threshold R0 ≤ 1 is satisfied; otherwise, a unique endemic equilibrium exists and it is globally asymptotically stable. Numerical simulations are performed to illustrate and extend analytical results. It is shown that diagnosis, treatment and education have positive effect on the control of HIV transmission, but senior male clients can burden the HIV epidemic and prolong the duration of the disease outbreak.
