A study of hypertext teaching to undergraduate students in library and information studies

An experimental study has been made of the problems of, and minimum requirements for, teaching hypertext (in this case, HyperCard) to undergraduate students. The results indicate that undergraduate beginners prefer to learn about the concepts as well as the practice of hypertext via hands-on experience, and that such an approach provides a satisfactory introductory course in hypertext. It appears that absolute beginners find particular problems in using a mouse, and in interpreting menus, icons, etc.
