摘要

This paper describes a biometric approach for automated personal identification based on computer vision. It employs a CCD camera for imaging creases on the inner side of the fingers which are subsequently analysed to generate a wide line integrated profile pattern. Identification is made by comparing the submitted biometric pattern of an individual against the reference obtained at the time of enrolment. The complications in the image processing module have been eliminated by providing consistent illumination and positioning aids for proper placement of fingers. The paper also discusses scope of work that can be carried out to reduce false acceptance and false rejection rates further.
