摘要

When the opportunity arose to dedicate a special issue of Computers in Human Behavior to computing in Norway, with the assistance of Pål Davidsen, I sent out a call for contributions. We based the call on what we knew about the broad range of topics of potential interest to the readership (educational applications, human-computer interactions, societal implications of computers, etc.), and we suggested a theme which was of particular interest to us and many others: computing in complex domains. We were hoping to represent the diversity of computing in Norway, and we certainly believe that this special issue has succeeded in that respect. The papers collected in this issue and discussed here are in fact quite representative of many of the challenges and interesting work currently under way in the application of computer-based technologies to complex domains.
