From Eliza to Internet: a brief history of computerized assessment

Three decades of research into the equivalency of traditional and automated assessments have culminated in the growing popularity of Internet-based surveys. This article briefly reviews the history of computerized assessment and compares and contrasts it to the current research on Internet-based surveying.
