摘要

As microprocessor technology is developed, some mechanical devices of automobiles have been replaced by the electronic devices using microprocessors. One of the electronic devices—ECU (Electronic Control Unit)—is used to control the engine to keep the optimal status. When there is trouble in the engine, however, it is not easy to diagnose the ECU unless the exact knowledge about the ECU is provided because the components connected to the ECU are functionally so complexly related to one another. This article presents two systems—SAILOR and DIAS1—which have been developed by our lab. SAILOR (Seoul National University Artificial Intelligence Language with Objects and Rules) is a general-purpose expert system shell in which an object-oriented programming technique is embedded, and DIAS1, which has been implemented using SAILOR, is an expert system for diagnosing the MPI engine controlled by the ECU of automobiles.
