摘要

This paper presents a method of describing images of dynamic scenes in terms of contour segments. It extends the description of still black and white (B/W) and color images, previously proposed by the authors, by adding the orthogonal displacement information to the attributes of each contour segment. The orthogonal displacement vector at each contour point is computed by a new method which allows the typical drawbacks associated with spatio-temporal differential approaches to be overcome, that is, noise sensitivity and a limited range of allowable displacement. The method has been tested over a number of real-world images. The effectiveness of the description has been assessed by showing the possibility of using it for the computation of the true displacement vector of each contour segment and for the segmentation of the image into objects with different motion parameters.
