Efficient 3D morphable face model fitting

Highlights:

• We propose an efficient stepwise optimisation (ESO) strategy that optimises sequentially the pose, shape, light direction, light strength and skin texture parameters in separate steps leading to an accurate and efficient fitting.

• A perspective camera and Phong reflectance model are used to model the geometric projection and illumination respectively. Linear methods that are adapted to camera and illumination models are proposed.

• We propose a fully automatic face recognition system based on ESO. This system supports 3D-assisted global and local feature extraction.
