Evaluation of the sequential similarity detection algorithm applied to binary images

Two families of suboptimal threshold sequences are evaluated for use with the Sequential Similarity Detection Algorithm in the binary image registration problem. A theoretical analysis predicts and explains small but definite differences in performance between the mean-deviation and equiprobable threshold sequences. Results are verified by experiment.
