摘要

The INPUT 2 Document Reader is an optical character recognition system that reads machine-printed characters and handprinted numeric characters and symbols. It translates the data into computer language, records it on magnetic tape for immediate computer processing, and provides a printed copy of all or part of the data on a high-speed line printer. The document reader is based on a modular design concept that permits the use of standard, proven components to configure systems that specifically match the input requirements of the individual user. This modularity also lets the user expand or modify his system as his input needs change. From the standpoint of pattern recognition, a key new element of the INPUT 2 Document Reader is in the logic used for interpreting handprinting. Based on a unique multilevel-logic technique developed by Recognition Equipment engineers, the system recognizes handprinted characters by the unique relationships that define individual characters.
