Region adjacency and its application to object detection

摘要

This paper describes a computationally efficient algorithm for object detection from a segmented image. A binary relation called region adjacency is defined, and the analysis of algebraic structure of regions is given. Two types of objects, simple object and composite object, are defined and the definitions lead naturally to the new object detection algorithm. The algorithm can detect both simple and complex objects. Efficient computational schemes are also given.
