Estimation of higher-order damping terms in linear plate models

In this paper we consider the estimation of damping parameters in equations that include Kelvin-Voight damping models. We determine optimality conditions that characterize optimal regularized output least squares estimators and obtain sufficient conditions for the positivity of Lagrange multipliers. These results imply regularity properties of the optimal estimators and their stability with respect to perturbation of data. Approximation and numerical results are obtained as well.
