A highly accurate finite-difference scheme for a boussinesq-type equation

A Boussinesq-type equation is considered. A scheme based on the compact implicit technique is developed. The scheme has O(τ2 + h2τ2 + h4) accuracy and retains the desirable tridiagonal nature of the finite-difference equations. A solitary wave solution of the equation is used to examine the accuracy and efficiency of the proposed method. Stability characteristics and the results of numerical experiments are considered.
