Some stability problems in applied mechanics

Stability problems for some mechanical systems will be considered, the mathematical description of which will be given by a set of only two linear second-order differential equations with constant coefficients. From the physical point of view the influence of forces following from conservative, circulatory, gyroscopic, and friction effects on the stability behavior will be studied. Applications from robotics and spacecraft dynamics will be given.
