Parallel simulation of a cellular pollution model

摘要

A simple cellular model is used to formulate a three-dimensional air pollution problem. Its structure allows for a straightforward implementation on parallel computers with a minimum of scalar operations and provides a superior modeling flexibility with respect to many more traditional approaches. The results of its implementation on different hardware architectures are presented and show that these models can greatly benefit from the use of array processor machines but that speedups of real studies are orders of magnitude lower than theoretically expected.
