Effect of throughflow on magneto-convection in micropolar fluids

摘要

The combined effect of vertical throughflow and magnetic field on an electrically conducting micropolar fluid layer is investigated for free-free, isothermal and micro-rotation free boundaries. Single-term Galerkin expansion technique is employed in determining the critical Rayleigh number. The influence of throughflow with various micropolar parameters and magnetic field on the onset of stationary convection is studied. It is observed that the electrically conducting micropolar fluid is more stable when compared to that of Newtonian fluid.
