Stability of numerical methods for solving linear index-3 DAEs

In this paper the solvability of linear index-3 DAEs and the stability of the numerical methods are investigated. By choosing suitable projectors, the solutions of DAEs are decomposed into their essential components. Some equivalent systems and consistent initial conditions are given. In a similar way the stability of the BDFs and IRK methods applied to some DAEs is discussed.
