Error analysis of a mixed finite element approximation of a linear Stefan problem

Based on a Landau-transformation, both semidiscrete and fully discrete in time mixed methods are applied to a single-phase linear Stefan problem in one space dimension. We construct semidiscrete and fully discrete approximations and show the global existence of a semidiscrete solution. Optimal rates of convergence in L2 and H1 norms are derived.
