Compacton solutions of the Kawahara-type nonlinear dispersive equation

In this paper we study nonlinear dispersive forms of the Kawahara equation or fifth-order KdV-type equation. We establish compactons, new form of solitary waves with compact support and width independent of amplitude. We further show that the defocusing branches of these models generate solitary patterns solutions.
