The planar n-body problem: regular polygon solutions

摘要

In this paper, the planar n-body problem under central force fields is considered.By introducing appropriate matrices and under determinated central force fields, we prove that n masses (n⩾4) at the vertices of a regular polygon, rotating about their common center of mass with an appropriate angular velocity, describe a periodic solution of the n-body problem if and only if the masses are equal.
