On the error estimate of finite difference method for the obstacle problem

In this paper, we derive the finite difference method for the obstacle problem. We apply the maximum principle to the obstacle problem in two mesh sets and derive the error estimates. We present the numerical results for 5-point second order and 9-point compact fourth order schemes.
