A vectorized multigrid solver for the three-dimensional Poisson equation

摘要

A vectorized version of the multigrid (MG) method has been implemented on the CDC Cyber 205 for solving the three-dimensional Poisson equation on a rectangular domain with Dirichlet boundary conditions. This paper describes the techniques employed in vectorizing the MG processes of relaxation, residual transfer, and interpolation. It discusses the data structures and programming concepts employed, and presents resulting performance details. It concludes with some suggestions for future applications efforts.
