Uncertainty analysis of large structures using universal grey number theory

• The universal grey number-based Gaussian elimination method is proposed to analyse interval-valued structures.

• Structures involving large number of interval equations are considered, which have not been studied before, using the proposed method.

• Accurate and reasonable ranges are predicted using the proposed method with less computational effort compared to other interval-based uncertainty methods.

• Ranges of input parameters, including the member lengths which have been assumed as deterministic values in the literature, are considered in the analysis of uncertain truss structures.
