• A universal delayed FOCNNs model is proposed, which treat other fractional delayed networks as its special cases.

• For the intractable case of FOCNNs both with time-varying delays and infinite distributed delays, a generalized fractional-order Halanay inequality is introduced, which is crucial for synchronization of FOCNNs with mixed delays.

• A unified synchronization analysis framework for FOCNNs is established, which is applicable to both the case with infinite distributed delays and the commonly used constant or time-varying delays.
