DSS in context

摘要

This paper describes the broad context in which the relevance of DSS can be assessed. DSS deals with a class of information handling activities that are goal or problem driven rather than procedure driven. These systems are one of several kinds of information systems to improve the performance of information workers in organizations. With this foundation, DSS are portrayed as systems resulting from the convergence of an evolution in data processing developments and an evolution in modeling efforts and techniques.
