Database organisation: An algorithmic framework for decision support systems in APL

The three prevailing models of database structure (hierarchical, network and relational) are most often portrayed independently by diagrammatical convention or in the context of respective DBMS that mask the innerworkings. By adopting a glass-box approach, key database concepts are portrayed by way of an algorithmic treatment. Operations are specified in APL, utilising the single logic pattern of sequence to explore structural relationships. The approach is directed toward a category of concise idioms for prototype specification in applications requiring integral dialogue and data/modelbase management as found in decision support systems.
