Practical approach to the stereo matching of urban imagery

The problems encountered when stereo matching urban imagery, and other forms of imagery in which disparity discontinuities, shadows and occlusions occur, is discussed. The unsuitability of existing stereo matchers for this task is described in the light of recent work within UCL-PS, and a number of possible solutions are outlined.
