摘要

This paper describes the continuing research of the authors in the design and development of heuristics for data set allocation in auxiliary storage. These heuristics are combined into a theory of dynamic file management (DFM). The objective of DFM is to decrease throughput time by efficient management of the multilevel store of a computer system. The major concepts of DFM are highlighted and our simulation results to date in throughput savings are noted. We contrast DFM techniques to the work of others in this area and indicate where we will focus our research for future engancements to the DFM model.
