Modeling Music as Synchronized Time Series: Application to Music Score Collections

作者:

Highlights:

• We define a data model to represent the core structure of music content, guided by the music notation language concepts.

• We propose an algebraic language, consisting in a compact, minimal set of operations that apply to the model domain in closed form.

• We describe an application to collections of digital music scores, encoded in XML. We describe an implementation that converts on-demand XML scores to instances of our model, extends XQuery with our algebra, and allows to express user-oriented queries over collections of music scores.

• We fully implemented our system, and publicly demonstrate its capacity in the context of the Neuma Digital Score Library at http://neuma.huma-num.fr.
