Simulative and analytical studies on performances in large multimedia databases

摘要

This paper summarizes the results of simulative and analytical studies on performances concerning the architecture of multimedia databases on large magnetic and optical data storage, suitable for multimedia document managment in the office environment.After the description of the relations of the multimedia database scheme and an outline of the main algorithms, evaluations on the storage occupation and on the average response time are worked out, depending on some macroscopic parameters of the multimedia database, in particular on the distribution of image segments on the write-once optical disks.
