Design equations for citation retrieval systems: Their role in research and analysis

摘要

This paper explores the use of design equations in citation retrieval system research. Design equations are models which relate the performance of a system to its design parameters. A sample is developed; then, the potential of design equations for description, prediction, and prescription is generally explored. Finally, examples are given to illustrate how design equations could be employed in experimental design and data analysis.
