摘要

The idea of the Thesaurus of Common Topics (TCT), covering interdisciplinary areas which—most probably—will enter into the composition of the vocabulary of branch thesauri, is presented against the background of the system of indexing languages for the Polish national System of Scientific, Technical and Organizational Information (Polish acronymdashSINTO). There are presented the aims and functions of the TCT: the main aim is to provide particular branch thesauri or branch systems of thesauri with some ready sets of interdisciplinary terms. There are listed areas taken into account when elaborating the TCT. There are characterized relationships established between the terms constituting the TCT, i.e. between descriptors and nondescriptors as well as between different semantically interrelated descriptors. The structure of the TCT is shown. There are briefly presented the ways of updating the TCT.
