Basic research in information science in France

摘要

After a presentation of a simplified map of information science, the goals of the French academic research policy in this field are described: creation and/or development of a limited number of research teams, creation of a scientific environment (summer school, Ango-French meetings). A rapid tour of basic research outside universities followed by some discussion about the definition of research categories precede the description of some promising fields of basic research in information science in France (arising from sociology, economics, telecommunications, mass communication, mathematics and logic) as well as less promising or unpromising fields.
