摘要

There have been a number of important document related activities which suggest the need for a new model for text. ISO standards for document description have been recently developed. These standards view documents as hierarchical objects and it is likely that languages such as SGML will become widely used in the near future for document markup. As structured documents become available, so there will be a need to evolve tools to take advantage of structural knowledge. The goal of the work described here is to develop such tools. A conceptual model for bibliographic data has been designed. The model is known as Maestro (Management Environment for Structured Text Retrieval and Organization). It supports structured documents and provides a query language to retrieve and link information contained in these structures. In this paper, an overview of Maestro is presented together with an outline of the basic implementation strategy.
