A case study of caching strategies for a distributed full text retrieval system

摘要

We describe the development of a model for the workload of a full text retrieval system and of a simulation model for a distributed version of an existing system, Ful/Text. These two models are then used to predict the effectiveness of different caching strategies for the given system and workload, and to evaluate the impact of various parameters on the strategies performance.
