摘要

This study identifies and describes sublevels in the novice user group. A cluster analysis of novices using a database management package yields three groups: those who effectively use the package, those whose interaction is totally ineffective, and those who are partially effective. Further analysis indicates that a functional tree diagram contributes more to task adaptability for the partially effective group. These results have implications for the investment of time and resources needed to train users of a new system.
