摘要

The paper examines the current efforts in quality control for knowledge-based systems (KBS). It proposes that current work on KBS quality control has concentrated upon the assessment of quality rather than its achievement. The paper starts by giving a description of the need for quality in software and then proceeds to describe the common quality concepts and methods by which the development of high quality products may be achieved.A selection of conventional software quality models is described and quality issues in relation to KBS development are then discussed. The quality control problems faced by developers producing KBSs are described and a summary and assessment of the currently available KBS quality models is given.A framework is then proposed which encompasses all aspects of quality control and offers quality assurance of the KBS development process, its goal being the achievement of quality in KBSs rather than assessment alone.
