Breastfeeding mothers' use of technology while breastfeeding

This study addresses the social media and technology habits of breastfeeding mothers while they are breastfeeding. Data was collected via a Qualtrics survey. Participants were recruited via social media and by personal connections. The data collected were descriptive and provided insight on the mothers' social media and technology habits while breastfeeding. Mothers reported frequently using technology, mainly Facebook, while they were breastfeeding, with Facebook being the most widely used social media platform. Social media technologies were sought out for connection, communication, entertainment, and advice among a host of other reasons. Implications for breastfeeding mothers and lactation specialists are discussed.
